The top Democratic official in the House met face-to-face with President Biden to discuss growing concerns within the party about his reelection prospects.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) held a private meeting with President Biden on Thursday night to convey the collective concerns from the House Democratic Caucus regarding Biden’s reelection bid. This meeting followed Jeffries’s numerous conversations with fellow House Democrats after a recent debate that sparked doubts about Biden’s viability as a candidate against former President Trump.

In a statement, Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said, “On behalf of the House Democratic Caucus, I requested and was graciously granted a private meeting with President Joe Biden. That meeting occurred yesterday evening. In my conversation with President Biden, I directly expressed the full breadth of insight, heartfelt perspectives and conclusions about the path forward that the Caucus has shared in our recent time together.” Jeffries provided no additional comment or indication of where he stood on Biden’s reelection efforts.
The meeting followed Biden’s NATO press conference, which aimed to reassure concerns among Democratic lawmakers and voters about his ability to continue as the party’s nominee. Biden’s press conference received mixed reactions from his party. Notably, some praised his handling of foreign policy and national security, while others focused on verbal missteps that might have detracted from his overall performance.
More Democrats Call on Biden to Drop Out:
