Turkey’s Motherland Party’s deputy chairman, Ethem Sancak, announced that Turkey could leave the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) in the next five to six months.

While speaking to reporters, Sancak said Turkey’s potential exit from NATO could be due to provocations and attempts by NATO to pit Turkey against Greece. Sancak also mentioned that NATO is trying to drag Turkey into the Middle East conflicts and that there is increasing hostility towards the alliance due to actions against the Quran in Sweden and the Netherlands.

Turkish citizens unhappy:
Recent polls have shown that at least 80% of the Turkish population believes that the United States has a hostile and destructive policy towards Turkey. This sentiment has led to an increase in sympathy toward Russia and its President, Vladimir Putin. Sancak believes this shift in attitude towards the US and Russia played a role in the decision to potentially leave NATO.
