The Department of Justice has announced the arrest of a 50-year-old Indiana woman who allegedly made threats to assassinate President Donald Trump.
Getting into it: The woman, identified as Nathalie Rose Jones of Lafayette, Indiana, was arrested on August 16, 2025, in Washington, DC, following a protest march near the White House. Federal authorities say Jones posted a series of violent threats on social media between August 2 and August 15, using accounts under the names “Nath Jones” and “nath.jones.” In those posts, she repeatedly referred to President Trump as a “terrorist” and accused his administration of dictatorship and mass loss of life due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One post on August 6, directed at the FBI, stated that she was willing to “sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea.”

Jones’s online threats triggered an investigation by the US Secret Service, which led to two in-person interviews. In the first interview, conducted on August 15, she allegedly confirmed her intent to kill the President, stating she had a “bladed object” and was prepared to carry out a mission to “avenge all the lives lost” during the pandemic. She attributed those deaths directly to Trump’s handling of vaccine policy and pandemic response. The following day, after participating in a protest that circled the White House, Jones was interviewed again by agents. During that conversation, she admitted to making threats but claimed she no longer had the desire to harm the President.
Prior to her arrest, Jones appeared in a televised interview with NewsNation during the protest in DC. She spoke against President Trump, accusing him of using military power against American citizens and enforcing authoritarian rule. “You do not deploy the military against the American people,” she said during the interview. “We will not be suppressed. We will not exist in this authoritarian regime. We will not accept fascism.” She also blamed Trump’s policies for pandemic-related deaths, stating that his administration failed to protect vulnerable populations by undermining vaccines and health care.

Jones has been charged in US District Court with threatening to take the life of, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, as well as transmitting threats in interstate commerce.
In a statement, US Attorney Pirro said, “Threatening the life of the President is one of the most serious crimes and one that will be met with swift and unwavering prosecution. Make no mistake—justice will be served.”
