President Trump has criticized New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman after she called his health “a black box.”

Some shit you should know before you dig in: Haberman and her NYT colleague Jonathan Swan recently published “Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump,” a biography based on around 1,000 interviews, including an on-the-record sit-down with Trump himself. The book covers the first 14 months of Trump’s second term, from the inner workings of the West Wing to the Epstein fallout, and details how some of Trump’s own aides privately worried about his age, his stamina, and whether he could physically keep up with the job. Publisher Simon & Schuster says the book has already moved more than 300,000 copies, and the White House was reportedly rattled by it, with one administration source telling Axios, “We’re afraid some of our most sensitive conversations were being recorded. And we have no idea which ones.” Trump, who turned 80 in June, is the oldest person to serve as US president, and his administration has faced growing questions about his health.

What’s going on now: In a post on Truth Social, Trump referred to Haberman as a “Maggot” and tore into her coverage of him. Trump wrote, “Maggot Hagerman has covered me incorrectly for ten years” and said she has made a “living off her bad reporting, and will pay the price when [his] Multi Billion Dollar Lawsuit against The Failing New York Times gets to Court, which should not be that long.”

He called the book “a joke,” claimed 90% of it is “Fake News,” and said if she “ever wrote the true story” about him, it “would actually be quite boring, but loaded with lots of SUCCESS.”

Trump also defended his health, saying, “I just finished a perfect physical at Walter Reed, I do it every six months, and I requested another Cognitive Test, the only President to do so, three times, and I aced them all — Got every question right. Few people in Washington, D.C., could do so, including Maggot and her flunky associate, Jonathan Swan. I would be willing to bet they couldn’t get 50% of the questions right.”

The rant came hours after Haberman appeared on MS Now’s “The Weekend” Saturday morning and was asked about Trump’s mental acuity. “His health is like a black box inside that administration much more than almost any other issue,” she said, adding that the administration has “released less and less information” about his visits to Walter Reed and admitting, “if there is an area of failure in the reporting for us, it was this.” She said she didn’t “feel equipped to answer” the question but noted, “I think that people can very legitimately question whether 80-year-old people should be president.”

Swan also responded to Trump by posting a screenshot showing “Regime Change” at number one on Amazon’s most sold books chart for the week of July 5, writing, “Many people disagree with the president’s assessment. Thanks to you all for reading.” He added, “I would be honored to do another on-camera interview with President Trump whenever he wants.”
