A former top US General who was fired by President Trump has joined a rapidly growing drone technology company backed by the president’s sons.
Getting into it: The announcement came from Powerus, which said former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. CQ Brown Jr. is joining the company as an executive-in-residence and senior adviser. In the role, he’s expected to help shape the company’s broader defense approach, expand how its autonomous systems are used, and strengthen relationships across the national security space.
Powerus, a Florida-based company founded by former US Army special operations veterans, focuses on building autonomous drone systems for both military and commercial use. One of its main products, the “Guardian-1 Interceptor,” is designed as a fast, affordable, and scalable solution to take down hostile drones. The company is partially owned by Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., and has been growing quickly as it looks to land Pentagon contracts tied to increasing US investment in domestic drone production.
Some US lawmakers and others have raised concerns that the Trump family’s financial stake in Powerus could create potential conflicts of interest, particularly as the company seeks lucrative Pentagon contracts.
