North Korea has condemned President Donald Trump’s proposal to take control of Gaza and relocate its Palestinian population.

Some shit you should know before you read: Last week, President Donald Trump announced his vision for Gaza, proposing a controversial plan to relocate its roughly 1.7 million Palestinian residents to Egypt and Jordan as part of what he calls an ambitious redevelopment project. Both Egypt and Jordan have firmly rejected the proposal, noting that they will not accept Palestinians and warning that such a move would further destabilize the region. Trump has insisted that his plan would transform Gaza into the “Riviera of the Middle East,” but critics argue that it amounts to “ethnic cleansing” and forced displacement. Israel, however, has expressed support for Trump’s vision, seeing it as an opportunity to resolve the ongoing war.

What’s going on now: In addition to criticism from some Arab nations, North Korea has chimed in with a condemnation of President Trump’s Gaza proposal, calling it an “outrageous rhetoric that tramples on the thin air of Palestinian hopes for peace and a stable life in the region.” The state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) described the plan as an “act of forcibly expelling the Gazan people” and accused the US of violating international law. They said, “The sovereignty, right to self-determination, and territorial integrity of the countries and nations can never be a bargaining chip or a mockery of the US,” and argued that the United States’ actions undermine the foundations of global stability.

North Korea also claimed that Trump’s plan was proof of the United States’ “hegemonic, invasive” ambition for world dominance, noting that “the world is now boiling like a porridge pot over the US’ bombshell declaration.” KCNA also accused the US of protecting and encouraging Israel’s “inhuman atrocities” by justifying its actions under the pretext of “self-defense” while supplying it with advanced weaponry.

This all comes as President Trump recently confirmed that he was going to reach out to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. During an interview with Fox News, Trump said Kim Jong Un “liked him” and noted that he “got along with him.”
