President-Elect Donald Trump has tapped the fathers of his two sons-in-law to serve as a senior adviser and an ambassador to France.
What’s the deal: Over the weekend, President-Elect Trump confirmed the appointment of Massad Boulos, a Lebanese-American businessman and the father-in-law of his daughter Tiffany, as his senior adviser for Arab and Middle Eastern affairs. Boulos, an international businessman with ties to Middle Eastern leaders, is expected to play a critical role in shaping the administration’s regional policies. His responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining diplomatic relationships.
- Addressing ongoing conflicts like the Israel-Gaza war.
- Creating coalitions that support US interests in the region.
In a statement, Trump praised Boulos as a “dealmaker” and said he was “an asset” to his campaign. He added that Boulos would “be a strong advocate for the United States and its interests.”
In addition to appointing Massad Boulos, President-Elect Donald Trump selected Charles Kushner, the father of Jared Kushner, as the next US ambassador to France. Kushner is a real estate developer and philanthropist who founded Kushner Companies and is a significant player in the New York real estate market. Despite a federal conviction in 2005 for tax evasion, witness tampering, and illegal campaign contributions, Kushner was given a presidential pardon from Trump in 2020.
In a statement, Trump called Kushner a “tremendous business leader, philanthropist, & dealmaker, who will be a strong advocate representing our Country & its interests.”
