The White House has confirmed that President Biden would support legislation to eliminate taxes on tipped wages, a policy initially proposed by former President Trump and recently echoed by Vice President Harris.

What’s the deal: During a White House press briefing, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked if President Biden would support such a measure. She replied, “Look, this is something that the president supports. He supports eliminating taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers while also raising minimum wage and preventing the wealthy from gaming the system.”

Harris Jump’s onboard: The statement from the White House comes after Vice President Harris announced her support for President Trump’s initiative, saying, “It is my promise to everyone here when I am president, we will continue to fight for working families, including to raise the minimum wage and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers.”

Criticism from Trump: Previously, Trump’s campaign criticized Harris for “copying” his idea. In a statement on TruthSocial, Trump wrote, “Kamala Harris, whose “Honeymoon” period is ENDING, and is starting to get hammered in the Polls, just copied my NO TAXES ON TIPS Policy. The difference is, she won’t do it, she just wants it for Political Purposes! This was a TRUMP idea – She has no ideas, she can only steal from me. Remember, Kamala has proposed the LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN HISTORY – It won’t happen. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!.”
