A Virginia man has been charged with making death threats against Vice President Kamala Harris on social media.

What’s the deal: Frank Lucio Carillo from Winchester, Virginia, has been arrested for making death threats against Vice President Kamala Harris on social media. Carillo, who could face up to five years in prison if convicted, posted 20 threats on a GETTR account under the usernameJoemadarats1.”

Additional information from the Justice Department: According to the DOJ, theFBI searched thejoemadarats1user account and discovered approximately 4,359 posts and replies made by the user targeting various public officials including, but not limited to, President Joseph Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and FBI Director Christopher Wray.”

Timing: Carillo’s threats against Vice President Kamala Harris mostly came days after President Biden announced he would not seek reelection and expressed support for Harris.
