Former President Trump has criticized Facebook and Google for allegedly limiting content about an assassination attempt on him.
What Trump is saying: In a statement on Truth Social, Former President Donald Trump said, “Facebook has just admitted that it wrongly censored the Trump “attempted assassination photo,” and got caught. Same thing for Google. They made it virtually impossible to find pictures or anything about this heinous act. Both are facing BIG BACKLASH OVER CENSORSHIP CLAIMS. Here we go again, another attempt at RIGGING THE ELECTION!!! GO AFTER META AND GOOGLE. LET THEM KNOW WE ARE ALL WISE TO THEM, WILL BE MUCH TOUGHER THIS TIME.”

What happened with Meta: Meta, Facebook’s parent company, admitted to mistakenly applying a fact check to an authentic photo of Trump raising his fist, which was initially intended for a doctored image. Meta spokesperson Dani Lever said, “This was an error, This fact check was initially applied to a doctored photo showing the secret service agents smiling, and in some cases our systems incorrectly applied that fact check to the real photo. This has been fixed and we apologize for the mistake.”
What happened with Google: Meanwhile, Google faced criticism for its search engine’s autocomplete feature, which failed to suggest options related to the assassination attempt on Trump. Google stated that they are working on improvements to the autocomplete function while noting that users can still manually search for any information.
This follows Elon Musk’s criticism of Google after users noticed that searching for “assassination attempt of” did not display Trump’s name. Musk argued that this and other actions by Google amount to “election interference.”
