Elon Musk is committing $45 million a month to a political super PAC that seeks to support former President Donald Trump’s campaign. This may be the largest financial commitment in the 2024 cycle.

Musk’s contributions will be directed to America PAC, an organization focused on voter outreach and registration to rival the Democrats’ traditionally strong efforts in these areas. Key supporters of the PAC include tech entrepreneur Joe Lonsdale, the Winklevoss twins, and Joe Craft.

America PAC raised $8.75 million in the second quarter of 2024. However, it had just under $100,000 cash on hand by the end of June. Musk, whose net worth is approximately $252 billion, will begin his donations this month. It follows previous claims that he would not get involved in the 2024 race.

This development comes after Musk endorsed former President Donald Trump roughly an hour after a gunman attempted to assassinate him during a rally in Pennsylvania. In a statement, Musk said, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”
