BlackRock has confirmed the man who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump was featured in one of their advertisements.
In this advertisement, the shooter appeared briefly in an ad that was part of BlackRock’s “About BlackRock” campaign. The ad highlighted the company’s management of retirement plans for US public school teachers. Following the assassination attempt, BlackRock quickly removed the video from circulation and provided all footage to the authorities to assist in their investigation.

In a statement, BlackRock said, “The assassination attempt on former President Trump is abhorrent. We’re thankful former President Trump wasn’t seriously injured and thinking about all the innocent bystanders and victims of this awful act, especially the person who was killed. As our leadership team communicated to colleagues Saturday night, BlackRock strongly condemns political violence of any kind and will do our part to promote civility and unity in the country.”
The shooter, who graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022, had a troubled past marked by relentless bullying and social isolation. On Saturday, he opened fire at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, injuring the former president and killing one spectator. Two additional attendees were critically injured before the Secret Service fatally shot him on a nearby roof.
Investigators discovered bomb-making materials in Crooks’s vehicle and home, but his motive remains unclear.
