Hunter Biden has officially dropped a lawsuit against former New York City M
Biden’s attorneys filed to dismiss the lawsuit on Thursday. The lawsuit accused Giuliani and his former lawyer, Robert Costello, of invading his privacy by distributing private information from a laptop. Biden had claimed that Giuliani and Costello were “primarily responsible” for the “total annihilation” of his digital privacy and sought $75,000 in damages. The dismissal, agreed upon by all parties, requires each to cover their own legal fees and awaits a judge’s approval for finalization.
Giuliani’s spokesperson, Ted Goodman, declared the dismissal a triumph for Giuliani. He said, “This should serve as a reminder to people that — despite the unrelenting attacks by partisan Democrats and their allies in the permanent Washington political class — Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s integrity and commitment to the truth is unwavering.”
Giuliani, who is navigating bankruptcy proceedings due to significant legal expenses from a defamation lawsuit filed by Georgia election workers and criminal charges related to the 2020 presidential election, became embroiled in controversy when a laptop containing Biden’s personal information was allegedly abandoned at a computer repair shop in April 2019. The shop owner later admitted to examining the sensitive material and contacting Republicans to review and disseminate the information, which subsequently became a significant campaign issue for Republicans.
The lawsuit’s dismissal also coincides with Biden’s conviction on three felony counts related to the illegal purchase of a firearm, potentially facing up to 25 years in prison, although such a sentence is unlikely for a first-time offender.
