According to media reports in Yemen, the United Kingdom and the United States launched a joint military operation that resulted in airstrikes targeting Houthi rebels in Yemen.

A Houthi-run television station reported that the US and UK carried out six airstrikes targeting key locations in Yemen. Four of these attacks were directed at Hodeidah’s airport and the nearby seaport of Salif, while two additional strikes hit the Al-Thawra area north of Sanaa. Although no immediate casualties were reported, the US and UK militaries have yet to confirm the operations.

In retaliation, the Houthis announced joint naval UAV and missile operations against two ships in the Red Sea, identified as the Elbella and the AAL GENOA. These vessels were reportedly targeted for violating a ban on entry to ports in Palestine. The Houthis also reiterated their commitment to continue military actions until the war in Gaza ends.

The latest airstrikes by the US and UK come after previous attacks in Hodeidah province, which the Houthis claimed resulted in 16 casualties last week. For months, the Houthis have been actively attacking shipping lanes in the Red Sea and launching missile and drone strikes against Israeli targets, expressing solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

Despite continuous bombings of Houthi positions since January,  military efforts have not curtailed Houthi attacks. On Thursday, the US reported intercepting eight Houthi drones over the Red Sea. Additionally, the Houthis, alongside the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, launched attacks on ships at the Israeli port of Haifa in retaliation for Israeli actions in Gaza.

Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi warned of intensified operations against Israel, signaling a potential escalation in the broader Middle Eastern conflict.
