According to authorities in Wisconsin, a student who pointed a pellet rifle at police officers was killed outside Mount Horeb Middle School. This occurred just 25 miles west of Madison, the state capital.
The incident happened around 11 a.m. on Wednesday when police were alerted about an individual approaching the school with a long gun. Investigators say the student was armed with a Ruger .177-caliber pellet rifle. According to our sources, the student killed was Damien Haglund (14).

The Wisconsin Department of Justice reported that officers had instructed the student to drop the weapon, which he failed to do. “Officers directed the subject to drop the weapon, but the subject did not comply,” authorities explained. The situation escalated when the student then pointed the gun at the officers, prompting them to use their firearms. Despite attempts to save the student, he died at the scene.
The school was locked down during this confrontation. According to police, the student did not enter the building at any time.
