The Kremlin has officially stated that Russia will not engage in meddling with the upcoming November US presidential election, countering previous American claims of its involvement in the 2016 and 2020 elections.

In a statement during a lecture aimed at dispelling “stereotypes” about Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “We never interfered in elections in the United States, And this time, we do not intend to interfere… We do not dictate to anyone how to live – but we don’t want others to dictate to us.”

These statements from Moscow follow detailed findings by US investigations, including the 2019 report by Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller and a 2021 intelligence report, which concluded that Russia had indeed attempted to influence the outcomes of past US presidential elections. In addition to Russian officials, figures, including the late Yevgeny Priogozhin, have been accused of trying to interfere in US elections.

Despite these allegations, Peskov pointed out that Russia was ready to stop any external interference from Western countries in its elections. Peskov has previously claimed that Western countries have attempted to undermine Russian elections, a claim refuted by various countries.

Increased tension:
Peskov also discussed the current state of affairs as the worst ever. He said, “Relations ‘have probably never been worse. America is fighting against us.”
