NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has raised concerns about the impact of delays in US military aid to Ukraine, as the country defends against Russian aggression.

While speaking to the press, Stoltenberg said, “We see the impact already of the fact that the US has not been able to make a decision, but I expect the US to be able to make a decision, that the Congress and the House of Representatives will agree continued support to Ukraine.”

The $95 billion aid package, which includes roughly $60 billion in funds for Ukraine, is currently stalled in the House after Speaker Mike Johnson said he would not schedule a vote this week.

As the bill continues to face delays in Congress, Ukrainian officials are reporting increased attacks by Russia, including the targeting of critical infrastructure. These military actions coincide with diplomatic efforts as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy prepares to meet French President Emmanuel Macron to sign a security agreement, further indicating the international dimension of Ukraine’s struggle.

The meeting between Zelenskyy and Macron, set against the backdrop of continued hostilities, aims to solidify France’s support for Ukraine. The security agreement is expected to cover a wide range of support, including humanitarian aid, financial assistance, and military backing, showcasing a unified stance against Russian aggression. Macron’s office says, “This visit will be an opportunity…to reaffirm France’s determination to continue to provide, in the long term and with all of its partners, unwavering support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.”
