The attacker had also made bomb threats, prompting an extensive search of both her and her vehicle by the authorities, who ultimately found no explosives. This violent occurrence occurred amidst the scheduling of two services at Lakewood Church, recognized as one of the nation’s largest megachurches.

The event drew immediate concern and response from local officials, including Houston Mayor John Whitmire, who lamented the attack occurring on a day meant for worship and watching the nation’s premier sports event. At the present time, police have not released a motive for the shooting.
