Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has called for the arrest of former US chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and alleged “dishonesty” with Congress.
During a Sunday interview on “The Cats Roundtable” on WABC, Paul criticized Fauci, stating, “For his dishonesty, frankly, he should go to prison.” He continued, criticizing Fauci’s refusal to accept responsibility and calling for history to judge him harshly.
Senator Paul, who has often clashed with Fauci, accused him of contributing to millions of deaths due to funding dangerous gain-of-function research. He believes this research played a part in the origins of the COVID-19 virus, which he claims emerged from a lab in China.
This is not the first time Paul has called for legal action against Fauci, as he previously stated that Fauci should “without question” be in jail. In response to these accusations, Dr. Fauci has dismissed them as “baseless and irresponsible.” In a CNN interview in March, Fauci expressed confusion and frustration at the allegations, questioning, “Prosecute me for what?” He labeled the calls for his imprisonment as “craziness” and criticized them for being senseless and irresponsible. Fauci, who faced intense scrutiny during the politicization of the COVID-19 pandemic, remains firm in his stance against these allegations.
