A recent court filing revealed that the judge presiding over former President Trump’s civil fraud trial is facing a barrage of threats.

According to Charles Hollon, a New York court officer-captain with the Judicial Threats Assessment Unit, the judge and his staff are receiving hundreds of harassing and threatening communications daily. “On a daily basis, the judge and his staff are being inundated with hundreds of harassing and threatening phone calls, voicemail messages, and emails,” Hollon stated in the filing. He emphasized that the severity of these threats necessitates constant reassessment of security measures to protect the judge and those associated with him.

The court filing, submitted by an attorney in the Office of Court Administration, recommended denying Trump’s request to stay the gag orders during the trial. The attorney cited the high volume of “threatening, harassing, disparaging and antisemitic messages” targeting the court’s chamber phone and a law clerk’s personal cell phone as justification for maintaining the gag orders.

The New York Appellate Division had previously lifted these orders, which originated from Trump’s posts on Truth Social, where he attacked a clerk and shared personal information about her.

Trump, in response to the temporary lifting of the gag orders, resumed his criticism on Truth Social. He condemned Judge Arthur Engoron’s previous rulings and criticized the gag order as “ridiculous and unconstitutional,” accusing it of preventing him from defending himself. “His Ridiculous and Unconstitutional Gag Order, not allowing me to defend myself against him and his politically biased and out of control, Trump Hating Clerk, who is sinking him and his Court to new levels of LOW, is a disgrace,” Trump wrote on his social media platform.
