First Lady Jill Biden has contracted COVID-19, as confirmed by the White House.
According to a statement by her communications director, Elizabeth Alexander, “This evening, the First Lady tested positive for COVID-19.” While her symptoms are reported to be mild, she will be staying at their home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Following this revelation, President Joe Biden underwent testing, with the White House saying, “The President tested negative. The President will test at a regular cadence this week and monitor for symptoms.”
It remains to be seen whether this development will impact President Biden’s scheduled foreign visits. However, his official itinerary, released after the disclosure of the First Lady’s health status, indicates a planned journey to New Delhi on Thursday for the G20 summit, followed by a trip to Hanoi on Sunday.
