Mexico is experiencing an unprecedented level of violence rocking the streets of both large and small towns across the country. While Mexican media and government officials address some of the violence, many cases go unspoken, and the images showing the reality are either censored or buried.
Attached you will find various acts of violence (almost all cartel-related) that have taken place in Mexico from June 24, 2023 – August 12, 2023. The majority of these incidents have yet to be reported by Mexican media. Additional volumes detailing other underreported violence in Mexico from the beginning of 2023 can be found under our World News tab.

A Photo obtained in Chilpancingo, Mexico, shows five severed heads of police/security personnel found on top of a car. Behind the heads were two messages. One read, “Greetings President” Norma Otilia [the mayor] I’m still waiting for the second one after you came to look for me with love :)” Second message difficult to translate.

Police in Acapulco, Mexico, discovered four men who were murdered outside a home. According to witnesses, multiple masked men approached the house and began shooting. The masked men also killed a dog that was with the group.

A photo obtained shows a man who was murdered while walking on a sidewalk in Renacimiento, Mexico. According to police, the man was shot multiple times. Unverified reports claim a note was left with the body; we were unable to obtain an image of it.

A man believed to be associated with a cartel was found dead on a street in Colima, Mexico. According to reports, a gunfight between two cartels was ongoing before his body was found.

The bodies of two men were discovered outside a local business. According to police, their deaths were believed to be cartel-related as the two had previously had altercations with a local cartel.

A man was found dead in a residential area in Colima, Mexico. According to police, the man was shot multiple times. The suspects reportedly left on a motorcycle.

Police discovered a man in his early 50’s shot multiple times on a sidewalk in Colima, Mexico. The man also had his genitals mutilated. Mixed reporting indicates he was a member of the Mexican Army. No arrests have been made.

Three men were found dead in an abandoned field in Queretaro, Mexico. According to reports, one of the men was a relative of a high-level police official. All three bodies had signs of torture, with one missing a finger.

Video shows a man who was murdered outside of a restaurant in Colima, Mexico. According to reports, the man was a local business owner who operated a trucking company. The man was shot and stabbed.

A photo obtained shows a man who was killed outside a gas station in Celaya, Mexico. According to reports, a masked individual shot the man in the back of the head. After killing him, the man took a photo of his face and left. No arrests have been made.

Two men and a woman were murdered while eating dinner at a restaurant in Tepoztlan, Mexico. According to locals, two men wearing masks shot the group and took off in a yellow pickup truck. All three were executed, according to witnesses. No arrests have been made.

Photos obtained from Ensenada, Mexico, show a woman who was murdered while traveling on a motorcycle. An additional woman riding on the back of the bike was hospitalized after being shot twice. Police have not made any arrests.

A man was found dead in an upscale area in Colima, Mexico. According to reports, the man was shot twice in the head. Police have no leads.

Photos show two bodies discovered on the outskirts of Benito Juarez, Mexico. Both bodies showed signs of torture, and a message was left on the head of one of the victims (unable to obtain message).

A photo obtained August 6 in Guerrero (Iguala) shows two men who were killed. According to police, both men had their hands restrained and were shot in the head. Both men also had their tongues removed, which some consider symbolism of “snitches.” Next to the bodies was a note on a green piece of construction paper (unable to obtain image of note). No arrests have been made.
