Former President Donald Trump has officially announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential elections.

While speaking at Mar-a-Lago, the former President said, “in order to make America great again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.” Trump continued, “I am running because I believe the world has not seen the true glory of what this nation can be. We will again put America first.”

Significant takeaways from Trump’s announcement:
Term Limits:
Trump pledged that if elected, he would call for a constitutional amendment that would impose term limits on members of Congress. He also called for a lifetime ban on members of Congress from being able to become a lobbyist after office.

Congressional stock trading:
Trump pledged that if elected, he would push for a law banning stock trading for members of Congress. The president said, “we want a ban on members of Congress getting rich by trading stocks with insider information. Many of our great members agree with it.”

Additional border security:
Trump vowed that if elected into office again, he would finish his notorious wall and will stop the record flow of migrants from entering the United States.

Voting reform:
Trump said that one of his top priorities as president would be to reform voting in the United States. He pledged that it would be one of his top priorities and would seek to require voters to present identification before voting, allow only same-day voting, and end of electronic voting (just paper ballots). Trump said, “It’s horrible what’s happening with our election and election process. And I’ll get that job done. That’s a very personal job for me. I take that very personally.”

COVID-19 mandates:
Trump vowed to “abolish every Biden COVID mandate and rehire every patriot who was fired from our military with an apology and full back pay.” This come’s as 3,400 troops have been involuntarily separated from the military after refusing to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

Critical race theory in schools:
Trump slammed the teaching of critical race theory in schools and said, “When I’m in the White House, our schools will cease pushing critical race theory. I will be the president to finally fix education in America. We were doing great.”

Death penalty for drug dealers:
Trump said that he believes harsher punishments must be given to drug dealers who are “leaving blood in America’s streets.” The President said, “I will ask Congress for legislation ensuring that drug dealers and human traffickers — these are terrible, terrible, horrible people who are responsible for death, carnage and crime all over our country. Every drug dealer during his or her life on average will kill 500 people with the drugs they sell not to mention the destruction of families. We’re going to ask that everyone that sells drugs, that gets caught selling drugs, to receive the death penalty for their heinous acts because it’s the only way.”
