Russia’s foreign ministry has announced that they will respond to a buildup of NATO forces along Poland’s border.

When asked if Russia would respond to a buildup of NATO forces along their border, Oleg Tyapkin (the head of Russia’s foreign ministry) said “A response, as always, will be proportionate and appropriate, intended to neutralize potential threats to the security of the Russian Federation.”

Tyapkin’s statement comes as NATO’s eastern flank has approximately 40,000 troops. Recent estimates suggest that 10,500 of those troops are stationed on the Polish border.
