President Donald Trump has called Democratic Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib “lunatics” and suggested they should be sent “back from where they came” after the two lawmakers protested his State of the Union address.
Getting into it: In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “When you watch Low IQ Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, as they screamed uncontrollably last night at the very elegant State of the Union, such an important and beautiful event, they had the bulging, bloodshot eyes of crazy people, LUNATICS, mentally deranged and sick who, frankly, look like they should be institutionalized. When people can behave like that, and knowing that they are Crooked and Corrupt Politicians, so bad for our Country, we should send them back from where they came as fast as possible. They can only damage the United States of America and can do nothing to help it. They should actually get on a boat with Trump Deranged Robert De Niro, another sick and demented person with, I believe, an extremely Low IQ, who has absolutely no idea what he is doing or saying some of which is seriously CRIMINAL!”
Trump went on to criticize Rosie O’Donnell, who he has had beef with for years, and added that “America is now Bigger, Better, Richer, and Stronger than ever before, and it’s driving them absolutely crazy!”
This all comes after Congresswoman Omar and Congresswoman Tlaib repeatedly interrupted President Trump during his State of the Union address. As Trump spoke about ending “sanctuary cities” and funding homeland security efforts, Omar shouted, “You have killed Americans!” and at other moments called him a “liar,” directly blaming his administration for the deaths of two of her Minnesota constituents during recent federal immigration operations.
Tlaib joined in the heckling, yelling “Liar!” and objecting throughout portions of the speech while wearing protest messages, including a button reading “Fuck ICE.”
After the address, both lawmakers stood by their actions. Omar wrote on social media, “I said what I said.” Tlaib also defended her protest online, suggesting Trump was reacting angrily because “two Muslimas” spoke back to him and corrected him.
