The leader of one of the world’s most dangerous terrorist organizations has issued a chilling video message threatening President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and other American and Arab leaders.

Some shit you should know before you read: If you’re unaware, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) is a jihadist militant group formed in January 2009 through the merger of al-Qaeda’s branches in Saudi Arabia and Yemen, following intense counterterrorism pressure in both countries. Primarily operating out of Yemen, AQAP has exploited the country’s ongoing civil conflict and political instability to establish strongholds, particularly in its southern and eastern regions. The group is considered one of the most dangerous affiliates of the al-Qaeda network due to its history of attempted and successful international terrorist attacks. Among its most notable operations were the 2009 “Underwear Bomber” plot to blow up a US-bound airliner, the 2010 cargo plane bomb plot involving explosives hidden in printer cartridges, and the 2015 Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris, which AQAP claimed responsibility for. The US government has repeatedly targeted AQAP leadership through drone strikes, yet the group remains active, funded through kidnapping, extortion, and smuggling operations.

What’s going on now: In a notable development, a video has emerged of Saad bin Atef al-Awlaki, the newly appointed leader of AQAP, issuing a direct call for violence against US and Arab leaders in response to the ongoing war in Gaza. In the half-hour video, al-Awlaki justified his threats by referencing the destruction inflicted on Palestinians, saying, “There are no red lines after what happened and is happening to our people in Gaza,” and insisting that “reciprocity is legitimate.” He called for retaliation not only against Israel but also against the countries and individuals he accused of supporting or enabling Israeli military actions.

Al-Awlaki explicitly named high-profile targets, including President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk. He also urged attacks on their families and affiliates, stating that anyone associated with the White House should be considered a legitimate target.

Beyond the US, al-Awlaki turned his focus to the Arab world, singling out the leaders of Egypt, Jordan, and the Gulf states as “leaders of apostasy” and calling them “Jewish Arabs.” He urged Arab military personnel to strike US military bases, American aircraft carriers, and even the palaces of their own national leaders.

Al-Awlaki also glorified past lone-wolf attackers, including Thomas Crooks, who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump; Elias Rodriguez, who killed two Israeli embassy staff in Washington, DC; and Aaron Bushnell, who self-immolated in protest of US support for Israel.

The White House, State Department, and the Pentagon have not publicly commented on Al-Awlaki’s threat.
