Apple has announced a major $500 billion investment in the United States over the next four years.
Some shit you should know before you read: Shortly after President Trump took office, he warned US companies that they should bring their manufacturing back to the United States or face significant tariffs on products made abroad. His administration has prepared to impose sweeping tariffs on various countries, particularly targeting Chinese imports, as part of his strategy to boost domestic manufacturing and reduce trade deficits. These tariffs are designed to encourage companies to relocate production to the US to avoid increased costs. These policies would directly impact Apple, which manufactures many of its products outside the US, including in China.

What’s going on: In an announcement, Apple confirmed the $500 billion investment would focus on boosting artificial intelligence, engineering, and skills development across the United States. The tech giant plans to create 20,000 new jobs, with most positions in research and development, silicon engineering, software development, and artificial intelligence production. This investment will significantly impact states including Texas, North Carolina, Iowa, Oregon, Arizona, and Nevada
Apple CEO Tim Cook said, “We are bullish on the future of American innovation, and we’re proud to build on our long-standing US investments with this $500 billion commitment to our country’s future.”

Trump reacts: In a statement on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “APPLE HAS JUST ANNOUNCED A RECORD 500 BILLION DOLLAR INVESTMENT IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. THE REASON, FAITH IN WHAT WE ARE DOING, WITHOUT WHICH, THEY WOULD’NT BE INVESTING TEN CENTS. THANK YOU TIM COOK AND APPLE!!!”
