A Southwest Airlines flight was hit by a bullet while preparing for departure from Dallas Love Field Airport on Friday.
What’s the deal: According to authorities, a Southwest Airlines flight preparing for departure from Dallas Love Field Airport on Friday evening was struck by a bullet near the cockpit. The incident occurred around 8:30 pm local time, with the bullet hitting the right side of the Boeing 737-800 just under the flight deck while the crew was preparing for takeoff to Indianapolis. The aircraft taxied safely back to the terminal, where passengers were deplaned without injury and later rebooked on another flight.
Dallas Police responded to reports of gunfire, and the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the incident, which led to a temporary closure of one runway. The aircraft was subsequently removed from service, and the investigation into the source of the gunfire remains ongoing.
This development comes after a Spirit Airlines flight was struck by a bullet while attempting to land in Port-au-Prince, forcing the plane to divert to Santiago, Dominican Republic.
