President-elect Donald Trump has appointed former ICE director Tom Homan as “border czar” and New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik as US Ambassador to the United Nations.
Digging into both: Tom Homan, the former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under President Trump, has been appointed as the “border czar” in Trump’s incoming administration. Known for his tough stance on immigration, Homan will be tasked with overseeing border security across the southern and northern borders, maritime, and aviation, as well as leading a major deportation initiative targeting undocumented migrants.
During Trump’s first term, Homan spearheaded enforcement policies focused on deterring illegal immigration, including family separations, and has since remained a vocal advocate of Trump’s hardline approach. As border czar, Homan is expected to further enforce these policies and collaborate with local authorities to execute one of the largest deportation operations in US history.
New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, a prominent supporter of Trump and currently the fourth-ranking House Republican, has been appointed as the US Ambassador to the United Nations in the upcoming Trump administration. Stefanik, who initially positioned herself as a moderate and even criticized Trump early in her political career, has since shifted to become a loyal defender of his “America First” agenda.
In her new role, she will represent the US in the UN, where she will likely prioritize policies aligned with Trump’s foreign policy vision, including a focus on American interests in global security and economic affairs.
