Trump ally Steve Bannon has been released from prison after serving a four-month sentence related to defying a congressional subpoena.
Let’s bring you up to speed: Steve Bannon, a political strategist known for his role as a key architect of Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and as a former senior White House advisor, was jailed in 2023 after he was found guilty of contempt of congress. The charges stemmed from his refusal to comply with a subpoena to testify and provide documents to the House committee investigating the January 6, 2021. Bannon’s legal team argued that he was protected by executive privilege supposedly invoked by Trump; however, the courts ruled against him, and he served a four-month prison sentence.
What Bannon is saying: After leaving prison, Bannon told reporters, “I’m finally out of being a political prisoner by the Merrick Garland, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi regime. I am far from broken. I have been empowered by my four months at Danbury federal prison.”
He continued, “Let me say something, if you’re not prepared to be sent to a federal prison as a political prisoner, then you’re not worthy to be in this movement, and to step forward and try to save your country. You have to understand: they want to put you in prison and they will put you in prison. If you can’t accept that, then you don’t know what they represent. I’m a political prisoner of Nancy Pelosi, I’m a political prisoner of Merrick Garland; I’m a political prisoner of Joe Biden and the corrupt Biden establishment.”
