Authorities in California have confirmed that an explosion at a courthouse was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED).

What’s the deal: At approximately 8:45 AM on Wednesday morning, an explosion occurred inside the Santa Maria Courthouse in California. The blast, caused by an intentionally set improvised explosive device (IED), resulted in two people sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

Arrest made: The investigation into the Santa Maria Courthouse explosion is currently ongoing, led by the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that one adult male was detained at the scene, though the motive and the suspect’s identity have not yet been publicly disclosed.
