Vice President Kamala Harris has criticized former President Donald Trump for “disrespecting sacred ground” at Arlington National Cemetery during a recent visit.

During a recent visit to Arlington National Cemetery, former President Donald Trump attended a wreath-laying ceremony marking the third anniversary of the US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan and the Kabul airport attack that killed 13 service members. The visit sparked controversy when Trump’s photographers and campaign team attempted to enter Section 60, a restricted area, to film. This led to an altercation with cemetery staff, where a team member allegedly pushed an official aside, prompting criticism and a defense from the Army on behalf of the employee.

Vice President Harris criticizes Trump: In a statement, Vice President Harris said, “It is a solemn place; a place where we come together to honor American heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service of this nation. It is not a place for politics. And yet, as was reported this week, Donald Trump’s team chose to film a video there, resulting in an altercation with cemetery staff. Let me be clear: the former president disrespected sacred ground, all for the sake of a political stunt.”

Harris continued, “If there is one thing on which we as Americans can all agree, it is that our veterans, military families, and service members should be honored, never disparaged, and treated with nothing less than our highest respect and gratitude.”

Trump’s view: In response to the controversy surrounding his visit to Arlington National Cemetery, former President Donald Trump defended his actions, noting that he did nothing wrong. In a statement, Trump said, “I wasn’t doing it for publicity. I get a lot of publicity. I would like to get a lot less publicity. I’m the only guy that would hire a public relations agency to get less publicity.” He also claimed the White House was involved in the accusations made against his campaign, calling them a “disgrace.”
