Chicago police and the FBI are investigating a potential sabotage at a breakfast buffet during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

What’s the deal: Two women reportedly sabotaged a breakfast buffet at Chicago’s Fairmont Hotel by throwing maggots into the food. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning as delegates from Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio, Missouri, and South Dakota were about to eat during the Democratic National Convention.

Police Investigating: In a statement, the DNC confirmed that “Multiple unknown female offenders are alleged to have entered a building and began placing unknown objects on to tables containing food. The offenders are believed to have then left the area. One victim was treated and released on scene. Along with the [Chicago police department], FBI-Chicago is assisting in the investigation.”

Statement from the hotel: A spokeswoman for the Fairmont Hotel said, “a group of individuals caused a disruption at a DNC-related breakfast event at our hotel this morning. [Hotel staff] acted immediately to clean and sanitize the area, ensuring that the event could continue without further incident.”
