Former President Donald Trump has called for the next presidential debate to be hosted by Fox News instead of ABC News.
What Trump said: In a statement on TruthSocial, Trump wrote, “My debate with Crooked Joe Biden, the Worst President in the history of the United States, was slated to be broadcast on Fake News ABC, the home of George Slopadopolus, sometime in September. Now that Joe has, not surprisingly, has quit the race, I think the Debate, with whomever the Radical Left Democrats choose, should be held on FoxNews, rather than very biased ABC. Thank you!”
More on the ABC debate: The presidential debate, initially scheduled to be hosted by ABC News, was set for September 10, 2024. This debate was planned before President Biden withdrew from the 2024 race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement. In May, the Biden campaign established criteria for debate hosts, requiring the network to have sponsored debates during the 2016 and 2020 election cycles. By doing this, it excluded both Fox News and MSNBC.
Recent polling: According to the most recent polling from RealClearPolling.com, Trump is leading Harris by 6 points in the general election. Additionally, a recent poll in Georgia shows Trump with a 5-point lead.
