The White House confirmed President Biden’s unwavering stance regarding his son Hunter Biden’s legal issues, emphasizing that there will be no presidential pardon if he is convicted.

While addressing the media on Air Force One, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, “Nothing has changed. That is still the case,” when asked about the president’s decision in light of recent tax crime charges against Hunter in California. Jean-Pierre also declined to discuss any private conversations between the president and his family members. Echoing the White House’s statements in September, she reiterated that President Biden is proud of his son’s efforts to rebuild his life.

Hunter Biden faces significant legal challenges, including three felony tax charges for evasion and filing a false return, and six misdemeanors for failing to pay taxes from 2016 to 2019. This marks his second indictment by special counsel David Weiss.

Addressing questions about the president’s reaction to these developments, Jean-Pierre said, “The president has said this before, and he will continue to say, which is that he loves his son and supports him as he continues to rebuild his life.” She refrained from commenting further, directing inquiries to the Department of Justice or the White House Counsel.
Hunter’s legal troubles have expanded to include three felony gun charges and an ongoing investigation into alleged tax misconduct. House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) has opened an investigation into his past business dealings, leading to a dispute over the nature of his testimony, with his attorney advocating for a public hearing for transparency. In contrast, Republican lawmakers threaten to hold him in contempt if he fails to appear for a closed-door deposition.
