According to President Trump’s border czar, the United States has recorded the lowest number of illegal border crossings in its history.

Some shit you should know before you read: Back when President Biden was in office, the United States recorded the highest levels of illegal border crossings in its history, with daily totals often exceeding 10,000 and monthly encounters peaking at over 200,000 during multiple periods in 2021 and 2022. The Biden administration attributed the surge to root causes such as poverty, climate change, and political instability in Central America, along with “seasonal migration patterns.” However, critics argued that the administration’s rollback of Trump-era policies — including the “Remain in Mexico” program and Title 42 expulsions — created incentives for illegal crossings, with some accusing the White House of being complicit in the uptick in crossings.

What’s going on now: In an announcement, Trump’s border czar Tom Homan said, “President Trump’s leadership has resulted in the most secure border in this nation’s history. In the last 24 hours the Border Patrol encountered a total of 95 illegal aliens across the entire southern border. That is the lowest number EVER recorded. Compare that to the Biden Administration who surpassed more than 10,000 per day. On top of that, they released the vast majority into the US. How many were released under Trump for May? Zero. Compare that to the 62,000 aliens Biden released in May of last year.“

Homan credits this decline to major policy reversals and enforcement measures implemented by President Trump after returning to office, including a zero-tolerance release policy, increased border patrol resources, and the dismantling of entry pathways used under prior administrations. These changes, Homan says, have created a powerful deterrent effect and have fundamentally altered the flow of unauthorized migration.

This comes as Homan urged Congress to pass the “Big Beautiful Bill,” a legislative package designed to solidify the Trump administration’s priorities. The bill would provide expanded authority and resources to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), enabling what Homan described as the “biggest deportation operation the American people voted for.”
