Israel says it has killed a Hamas terrorist who took part in the Oct. 7 kidnapping of a female festivalgoer whose body was paraded through Gaza.

Getting into it: According to the IDF, Tamer Mohammad Ibrahim Al-Zabaq was killed in an airstrike Monday in Jabalia, in northern Gaza, after infiltrating Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, and helping abduct Shani Louk, a 22-year-old German-Israeli tattoo artist taken from the Nova music festival. Video of militants driving her through Gaza in the bed of a truck, seemingly unconscious, became one of the most widely seen images of the attack, and Israeli authorities confirmed her death weeks later. Israel also said Tuesday it killed Akram Bassam Shaaban Yassin, a senior official in a secretive Hamas unit that protects its leaders.

Over the weekend, the IDF said it killed three more Hamas members in Gaza City’s Tuffah neighborhood and Jabalia, including a cell commander and a weapons manufacturer, and last week killed a Hamas commander it says took part in Oct. 7. Israel accuses all of them of planning attacks on troops and civilians and rebuilding Hamas’ military “in systematic violation of the ceasefire,” but hasn’t detailed the alleged plots or said whether civilians were hurt.

Hamas-affiliated media reported that two children, including a 7-year-old girl, were shot dead by Israeli troops in separate incidents Sunday, reports the IDF hasn’t addressed.

Israel says the strikes are aimed at an active threat and that its forces will keep going after anyone it considers dangerous while deployed in Gaza under the ceasefire.

This all comes as more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes since the US-brokered ceasefire began last October, with talks on its next phase stalled and both sides accusing each other of violations, ahead of Israel’s Oct. 27 election.
