Mexican authorities have announced a significant drug bust near the US border, seizing 70 pounds of fentanyl.

What’s the deal: According to Mexican authorities, a significant drug seizure took place at a military checkpoint on a highway connecting the northern states of Sinaloa and Sonora. Officers discovered 70 pounds of fentanyl hidden inside boxes of sliced cactus, known as nopales, which were being transported in a trailer. The fentanyl, found in both pill and powder form, was en route to Arizona and had an estimated street value of $6.5 million.

During the operation, law enforcement officers arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with the smuggling attempt. Authorities have not yet disclosed the suspect’s identity or whether he has ties to any specific drug cartel.
