Iranian officials have warned the US not to get involved in the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel following Tehran’s recent military actions.

This comes after Iran’s drone and missile attack on Israel last Saturday, which Tehran described as a “legitimate defensive response” to an earlier Israeli strike in Damascus. This strike reportedly targeted the vicinity of the Iranian embassy and resulted in the deaths of two senior officials from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

According to statements from Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, the attack was justified under Article 51 of the UN Charter, which sanctions military action for self-defense. The mission emphasized that the operation was a direct reaction to what they called the “Zionist regime’s aggression” against their diplomatic premises in Syria.

IDF spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari echoed the severity of the situation, labeling the attack a “direct” and “dangerous escalation.” Hagari assured that Israel’s defensive and offensive capabilities were fully prepared for a significant confrontation. Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, criticized Iran’s actions at the UN, questioning the lack of global condemnation and highlighting the threat to international peace.

The unfolding scenario continues to draw international attention, with updates on the situation being provided regularly to President Biden.
