Lawyers for First Lady Melania Trump sent a cease-and-desist letter to Hunter Biden demanding a retraction and apology for what they describe as false and defamatory claims linking her to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Some shit you should know before you read: If you’re unaware, Hunter Biden recently claimed in a YouTube interview with journalist Andrew Callaghan that Jeffrey Epstein was the person who introduced Melania Trump to Donald Trump. During the interview, Biden stated,Epstein introduced Melania to Trump. The connections are, like, so wide and deep, attributing the claim to author Michael Wolff. He reiterated that his comments were based on media reports and writings dating back to 2019.

What’s going on now: In a letter first obtained by Fox News, Melania Trump’s attorney Alejandro Brito pushed back against Hunter Biden’s claims, calling themfalse, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory. The letter, dated August 6, 2025, instructs Biden to issue a full retraction of the statements about Mrs. Trump, referring specifically to his comments in the YouTube interview with Andrew Callaghan. Brito highlighted the seriousness of the allegations, writing,You have caused Mrs. Trump to suffer overwhelming financial and reputational harm, and warned thatfailure to comply will leave Mrs. Trump with no choice but to pursue any and all legal rights and remedies available to her to recoverdamages totaling more than $1 billion.

The letter further criticizes Biden’s reliance on author Michael Wolff as a source, calling him a “serial fabulist,” and pointing out that the original article referencing the Epstein claim was previously retracted by The Daily Beast after similar legal pressure. “Following receipt of our cease-and-desist demand letter just a week ago, The Daily Beast issued an apology to Mrs. Trump and retracted the false and defamatory statements contained in the article by deleting it in its entirety,” Brito wrote. He accused Biden of “maliciously” republishing those debunked claims despite their prior retraction and labeled the timing of the interview as evidence of “actual malice.”

So far, Hunter Biden has refused to comply with the demands laid out by Melania Trump’s legal team. When presented with the opportunity to apologize during a follow-up interview with Andrew Callaghan, Biden bluntly responded, “Uh, fuck that. That’s not gonna happen.”

This legal threat follows previous successful demands by Melania Trump’s legal team, including a formal apology and edited video from political commentator James Carville, who publicly retracted similar claims on his podcast.
