Russell Warren, a 49-year-old resident of Prudenville, Michigan, faces charges for issuing threats against President Biden, Vice President Harris, and various senior government officials.
The charges, detailed in court documents, arise from a series of social media posts Warren made on the platform X, previously known as Twitter. In these posts, he not only targeted the President and Vice President but also extended his threats to journalists, celebrities, former Trump administration cabinet members, all 2024 presidential candidates, and other politicians.
Warren’s social media account, which remained accessible to the public as of Monday, contained numerous messages sent over the weekend. These posts detailed a plan he referred to as “Operation Vengeance” and included a list of individuals he threatened to kill, while he described himself as “a lamb of god.” His threats were not limited to individuals but also encompassed plans to destroy significant landmarks and facilities, including the Smithsonian museums, Air Force One, Disney theme parks, One World Trade Center, and Mount Rushmore.
The U.S. Secret Service, utilizing Warren’s IP address, successfully located and apprehended him on Monday. This arrest follows a previous one in 2022 when Warren faced charges related to assault with a deadly weapon.
The current charges against Warren for threatening the President and other officials could lead to a prison sentence of up to five years. As the legal proceedings continue, Warren is expected to make his next court appearance on Friday.
