Ukraine’s top representative, Andriy Yermak, has called on the necessity of China’s involvement in discussions to resolve the ongoing war with Russia.
Yermak, during a news briefing at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, indicated uncertainty about a potential meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Chinese Premier Li Qiang, stating, “let’s see,” in response to inquiries about their meeting plans.
Swiss Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis, present at Sunday’s press conference, added that China has a critical role, saying, “We must find ways to work with China on this.”Cassis also noted the reluctance of both Russia and Ukraine to make concessions, emphasizing the urgency of ending the war.
This comes as President Zelensky’s peace plan, which calls for Russian troop withdrawal and restoring Ukraine’s borders, faces challenges, especially with Russia’s dismissal of the proposal.
