Russia is set to bolster its military efforts in Ukraine by introducing its latest howitzers to the battlefield, as confirmed by Sergei Chemezov, the head of the Rostec state defense conglomerate.
In an interview with the state-run RIA news agency, Chemezov revealed that the Coalition-SV self-propelled artillery units have completed testing and are now in mass production, with the initial batch expected to be delivered by the end of 2023.
Chemezov said, “I think they will appear there (on the battlefield in Ukraine) soon, since howitzers of this class are needed to provide an advantage over Western artillery models in terms of firing range.”
According to Russian state-controlled media, The Coalition-SV howitzers have a range of up to 44 miles and are equipped with a modern 2A88 cannon of 152 mm caliber. These artillery units can fire more than ten rounds per minute and feature advanced systems for automating gun pointing, target selection, and navigation.
