State Media in Burkina Faso is reporting that military strikes on terrorists near the northern town of Djibo resulted in the death of over 400 terrorists. The strikes followed a significant terrorist attack that targeted an army base in the region.
The attack linked to Al-Qaeda, began around 3:00 pm local time, and involved several hundred terrorists who attempted to breach a military base. Their efforts were thwarted by the army, backed by air support.
The attack, which lasted over three hours, was executed in multiple waves. Although the army suffered casualties, the exact number of soldiers killed was not disclosed.
In response to the attack, the Burkinabe Armed Forces conducted a counter-offensive. On Monday, a search operation for the surviving terrorists neutralized dozens of them.
