According to the United Nations, the world’s global population is officially set to hit eight billion people on November 15, with India on pace to overtake China as the most populous country in the world.

The United Nations added that it forecasts global population to reach 8.5 billion by 2030, 9.7 billion by 2050, and peaking at 10.4 billion by 2080.

In a statement, the United Nations said, “The dramatic growth has been driven largely by increasing numbers of people surviving to reproductive age, and has been accompanied by major changes in fertility rates, increasing urbanization and accelerating migration. These trends will have far-reaching implications for generations to come.”
